Keith Preece | Keith has over 25 years’ experience in the golfing industry and is now delighted to be Kington GC’s Head Professional. Keith has established himself as a respected coach in the region and in his time has worked as a Shropshire & Herefordshire County Development coach, working with Golf England. He still has a passion for playing the game competitively and spent a lot of time early on his career competing successfully on the Midland PGA circuit, various mini tours and at one time held 5 course records in the region. His main passion is developing new talent in the game through junior golf and also passing down his years of experience and knowledge to help players of all abilities to fully maximise their enjoyment and hopefully reach their full potential. Not afraid to embrace new technology Keith was one of the first PGA Professionals in the country to build an indoor golf studio that used launch monitor technology. For over 10 years, Keith has been using technology for coaching and the fitting of golf clubs. "I would not be embarrassed to say that using the data we get from a launch monitor completely changed the way that I looked at my own golf swing and the way that I now coach the game to players of all abilities" says Keith. "In a strange kind of way the technology made the game much simpler and made the coaching based on factual evidence and not opinion or methods." Keith and the team are also authorised custom fit specialists for many of golf’s leading brands. With the shop's Foresight GC2 swing studio and software, Keith can offer customers the very best experience in custom fitting and coaching. It’s not for everyone but I liked it, a real tough and demanding layout that demanded precision on every shot. Most memorable golf shotI holed out with a 4 Iron from 230 yards on the final hole in a Pro-Am in the Midland Open. It was on a par 5 and moved me from -3 under to -6 under in one shot and earned me a nice cheque!! Best Round-8 Under at Summerly Links in San Diego. The starter announced to us on the first tee that the course record was 63, -9 under par and I lipped out on the last hole. A round to forgetIn my second Euro Pro tour event down in Newbury I wore glasses for the first time. The weather was horrendous so after a disastrous opening few holes I switched to some contact lenses which I hadn’t played in before and that made it even worse. My vision was even more blurred so after another 9 holes I took them out and eventually walked off with an 86!! Ouch! My worst round as a professional by some way. |
