Upcoming Events
Ancients Cup – This is a club competition for which you need to be 55+ so all seniors qualify even if you look younger or don’t want to acknowledge your age! It will be held on Wednesday 17th August and there is an entry sheet on the club noticeboard. It is an ‘Honours Board’ competition so a prestigious one to win!
Seniors Open – Our own premiere event is on Wednesday 24th August and there are some prime slots still available for the morning so contact Chris Scott (01544 340069 or Don’t forget that it is two competitions in one. There is a standard better-ball stableford competition but also, uniquely, a better-ball gross competition. Plus nearest the pins on 3 holes and the usual ‘2’s and the chance to win a sleeve of Premium Golf Balls.

Seniors AGM – Yes it is early to be mentioning it but you need to make a note in your calendar as tickets are going fast (only joking....). The date is 7th November and we will be looking to appoint to a number of vacant committee posts plus your chance to raise and discuss any key issues. So don’t just moan about what the committee gets wrong, take part and put it right! Watch out for more details on the Seniors Board.

At an age when most of us are resigned to the fact that the only thing increasing in our golf is our handicap, it is remarkable to witness the exploits of Colin Mansell. In the summer League on 1st August he shot a gross 76 – below his age! His handicap has been coming down as well (quite right too according to some in the bar where I see a sombrero has been looking for an owner!). Well done Colin!
