Seniors Match Update: May 2018

Kington Blue Ballers finally played at Church Stretton on 4th May (third time lucky) and decided the Three Hills Trophy for 2018. Roger Mathews won on the day with 38 pts with Paul Finch second on 36 pts and Nigel Venables third with 33 pts.

The overall winner of the Three Hills Trophy (only played over two because of weather cancellations) was Keith Lister. We will run the competition again next during the winter so watch this space.

On the Seniors' match front we won at home to Ludlow by 4 to 2 on 3rd May but lost by the same score away to Cleobury Mortimer on 10th May.

Any Seniors wishing to play in future matches please sign up on the team sheets on the Seniors notice board next to the changing room.

Thanks, Ted

We had a good turn out with 9 three man teams tackling a breezy and cold Monday morning.

There were some good scores considering the conditions with the results as follows:

  • 2nd Paul Finch, Bill Didcock and George Bennet 42pts
  • 3rd Gordon Glover, Colin Mansell and Frank Goodwin 41pts

Kington Seniors second match of the year saw a 4-2 defeat away to Ludlow on Friday 27th April.

Our next match is away to Cleobury Mortimer and we still need two players so please sign up.

Thanks, Ted

Kington Blue Balls: 28-29 March 2018

The blue ballers finally played in good weather and on the correct day.
This winter we had only managed two outings, so the seasons' finale at Aberdovey doubled the rounds played for those who stayed overnight. We were treated to sunshine on both days and the sea breeze wasn't too cold but was challenging as was the speed of the greens, both reflected in the scores.
Wednesday 28th:
1st Nigel Venables  30pts
2nd David Freake  28pts
3rd Ted Davies  27pts
The winning team was Jim Kelly, Wyndam Evans and Nigel Venables  78 pts (all three scores counting)
Nearest the pin (12th) was won by John Priday
Thursday 29th:
1st Wyndam Evans  29pts
2nd  Ted Davies 27 pts
3rd Richard Elmes  26pts
The winning team was Terry Weight, John Priday and Sid Price  73pts.
Nearest the pin (5th) was won by Ted Davies.
We are going back to Church Stretton GC on Friday 4th May (third time lucky we hope) to settle the Three Hills Trophy, a sign up sheet will be going up on the notice board by the spike bar shortly.
