KINGTON GOLF CLUB -- COURSE UPDATE
We hope you enjoy your golf at Kington with its magnificent panoramic views overlooking the wonderful Black Mountains, Hay Bluff and Clee Hill to name but a few.
The fantastic greens we have and the easy to walk turf help make Kington a 'must play' destination.
The course at 1284 feet above sea level is the highest in England and although relatively short affords its own challenges with the undulating terrain, the small mounds around the greens and the ever present gorse & fern.
The greens are quick, relatively small and flat but in excellent condition; just make sure you get those borrows right?
Enjoy the fantastic gem that is Kington Golf Club – rated 1st in top 5 Best in County and also rated in the top 100 Courses in England in 2017.
A slight climb for the first 3 holes and then around the top to play some testing holes, especially with a bit of wind, then the comfortable walk back down the home straight and around the ‘old racecourse’ and down to the signature 18 th hole and the clubhouse.
On your way around you might find one of those wide fairways with your drive but if you don’t, you may have a very tricky shot to the green!
Overall a great test of golf with fantastic views of a number of Counties.
Provided the weather is suitable the 7th green will be open in March. The drainage work has gone well but please be patient as this is not an immediate fix and work will continue on the green for a while yet and improvement will continue to be seen as it is played on.
We are lucky at Kington being able to play all year around with no temporary tees or greens as the course drains so well.
Just remember though, if the putts aren’t going in, you can still enjoy the views on the course and have some excellent food in the clubhouse afterwards.
Also, keep your eyes peeled for walkers as they can often be seen on the Offas Dyke path or crossing a fairway on the top of the hill.
Please remember to replace your divots, use the divot boxes provided where available and repair pitch marks on the green. Keep buggies on the fairways and designated routes & paths. Also be mindful of gorse regeneration sites and areas where recent work has taken place.
We hope you enjoy your golf and thank you for visiting Kington Golf Club and hope to see you again.
