The Ladies Open AM AM was a great success, thanks to the hard work of event organiser Wendy Douglas and her team of helpers. 64 players from 9 golf clubs played on a warmish, dryish day - until the skies opened and flooded the greens .. nearly drowned them actually! Being Kington golf course the water drained extremely quickly and everyone was able to complete their round.

Fancy a trip to the Seniors Open at Royal Porthcawl

Golf Club – The first ever ‘Seniors Major’ event takes place between July 24th and July 27th. If you can get 10 or more people to join you to buy a ticket then you can get a good discount bringing the price down to £20

There are more discounts for bigger groups. The big plus is that you can buy the tickets as a group but you do not have to go together. So come on you organizers do some canvassing

The Sporting Challenge is here again.

Kington Golf Club has a reputation to maintain as since its creation in 2011The Kington Sporting Clubs Trophy  has been won by the club every year.      

The challenge consists of Hockey - Sunday June 1st /    Golf Sunday 8th June/  Bowls Friday 13th June/ Cricket

Sunday 15th June and Football Friday 20th June. All the venues are local so go along and add your support or even better get involved. All the information you need including your entry for the teams and the locations  of the events are on the Main club notice board and in the Diary-- or you can as a last resort call Nigel Venables

1st place Jeremy Ashford & Mike Waygood with 41 points winning on back 9 with 18 points.

2nd place Dai Morgan & Mike Powell with 41 points losing on back 9 with 17 points .3rd place Andy Georgopoulos & Ross Baker with 39 points winning on back 9 with 20points

The weather, course and food at Builth were fantastic, we played a 4 ball betterball pairs competition - yellow blocks 3/4 handicap with 36 people playing!

Handicap League

First match in the handicap league had to be cancelled on the 7th May due to bad weather, wind was unbelievable.          The Match has been re arranged.

Herefordshire Ladies County Amateur Golf Championship

The Herefordshire Ladies County Amateur Golf Championship will be contended on our course on Saturday 7th June. 83 members of Herefordshire golf clubs will play an 18 hole medal to find the 2014 Champion. Good luck to them all.

If you are playing the first hole when the ladies are on the 18th it will be much appreciated if you give them priority. Thanks,.

Kildare Cup

The winner of this years Kildare  Cup  was Gareth Jones with a splendid 78-15-63. The event was a qualifier for the Chronicle Cup to be played at the Wrekin Golf Club on August 2nd.  Gareth’s team mates on the day will be:

Nick Preece, Garry Howe and Alan Thomas. Gareth will be playing off his new 13 handicap!

Annual Triangular Match v Burghill Valley & the Herefordshire

Ten ladies played in the annual Triangular which took place at Burghil lValley this year on 29 May and Kington came away with the Trophy again!

Kington Community Shop

Niki Scott is supervising our use of the ‘Community Shop’ in Kington High Street. The dates are 18th July to 25th July.  She would like to hear from anyone who could volunteer to lend a hand during the week. This is a fund raising venture, so if you have unwanted treasures that you could donate to help fill the shop they would be much appreciated. Items need to be brought to the shop after 2pm on Friday the 18th or any time when the shop will be manned. Electrical goods have to be PAT tested therefore need to be at the shop by Saturday morning.
